Martin Ainscough CBE DL:

Chairman of Go Trade Local, Martin Ainscough grew Ainscough Crane Hire into the UK’s largest and most successful crane hire business. Since this was sold in 2007, he has set up a Charitable Trust and sits on the Prince’s Trust Fundraising Committee.

His interest in promoting local goes beyond the traditional avenues and Wigan born Martin Ainscough was the driving force in proposing, designing, building and operating Wigan Youth Zone. This purpose-built facility has provided a significant lifeline to thousands of children and young people in the Wigan area, generating a safe environment in which they can socialise, undertake tasks and activities, participate in sport and make new friends.

“At Ainscough Cranes, we built up a National Network which meant that when our customers requested a Crane from one of our depots, the distance these would travel to reach their destination was staggering and I had always thought that the importance of supporting local should be at the forefront of our ever-changing society. Following this ethos, I’m delighted that through working closely with Harry Longworth (Managing Director of Go Trade Local), we have together founded a great platform which not only promotes local businesses but supports them too!”

Harry Longworth:

Harry Longworth is the Managing Director of Go Trade Local and since a very young age he has been passionate about supporting local businesses, starting in his hometown of Chorley, Lancashire.

Most of his Chorley/Wigan based family are self-employed tradespeople and so working in that environment has been something he has grown up around.

Harry founded a local leaflet distribution company in 2012 aged just 13. At this time he was living in a new-build area with his family and soon realised that many of the businesses who were moving to the area had no way of reaching out to the residents.

In 2015, Harry grew the company from simply delivering leaflets to developing a community magazine brand. Harry made the decision in 2018 to follow his dream and launched a marketing agency which now boasts clients of all shapes and sizes from local sole traders to national and international organisations.

“One thing that has been ingrained in me from a very young age is the idea of supporting local. A large portion of my family are self-employed tradespeople and for many years I have been observing how they all work in their industries. Since 2013, I have been actively working with both tradespeople and construction businesses to help them reach new customers. This ranges from your independent gardeners and joiners to national chains.”

Stuart Clewlow:

Stuart has spent the majority of his working life around the construction and trade industry. Before joining the Go Trade family, Stuart was the Estate Manager for the largest New Build development site in the whole of the UK.

His understanding of not only the construction & DIY industry, but also how our partners use Go Trade to benefit their business, is what makes him such an important part of our team. Stuart has been here from the start and has a great understanding of what we’re all about. His day to day activities include anything from identifying ways we can grow the Go Trade brand, improving our partners and users’ experiences on our platform and assisting with any queries.

As well as being a family man, one of Stuart’s many passions is local history in the Chorley area, where in his spare time he works on producing local heritage books, hosting interactive learning events in local schools and libraries, and sits on the committees of a number of local organisations.

“I knew straight away that I wanted to work alongside the Go Trade Local team and be involved in its development and growth. I’m very local minded in anything from buying produce to supporting businesses and tradespeople in my area. It’s important we support local economies as this has a huge impact on the quality of life in our communities.
